If your vehicle has passed the five-year mark, it’s time to book a pink slip safety inspection. DSY Auto is an Authorised Inspection Station, and our experienced team is qualified to do all the necessary assessments to ensure your car is running optimally.
At the inspection station, a professional mechanic from DSY Auto will perform basic mechanical safety checks. We look at particular vehicle components that could potentially be dangerous to passengers and other vehicles on the roads, if they aren’t up to compliance standards.
A pink slip safety check, also referred to as an eSafety Check, entails examining the following components:
A pink slip inspection is performed on light motor vehicles that are five years and older. New South Wales legally requires vehicles to be declared safe for the roads before the car registration can be renewed.
Meanwhile, light vehicles include passenger cars and vehicles that don’t have power-operated brakes and that carry goods with a Gross Vehicle Mass of less than 4.5 tonnes.
Vehicles providing point to point transport services must have a safety inspection done once per year.
Once DSY Auto’s professional mechanics have finished the safety check and your vehicle passes the test, we will submit the pink slip to the Roads and Maritime Services on your behalf.
You then have six months from the day of inspection to renew your vehicle registration.
If you fail to renew the registration during that time, your vehicle will have to be inspected again to receive a new pink slip.
All cars registered in NSW are legally required to have a CTP green slip. This is essential so that compensation is provided to anyone injured or killed in an accident. The CTP insurance requirements must be met for you to register your vehicle (which you can do online or in person).

Vehicles that don’t pass the vehicle inspection won’t receive pink slips and subsequently won’t be able to have their registration renewed. In these cases, DSY Auto gives customers a Repairs Needed report that outlines the necessary work required.
These repairs are done at your nearest authorised inspection station, or you can bring your car back to DSY Auto within 14 days and we’ll reassess it without charging you safety check fees again.
Once the job is completed and the vehicle passes the inspection, you will be given a pink slip and you can renew your registration within the next six months.
A car will run safely and optimally so long as annual log book servicing, or maintenance as per the manufacturer’s instructions, are done religiously. If your car goes for all its required major services, you shouldn’t have a problem receiving a pink slip.
